This is the immediate thought that came to mind for me. I know i have used this scene (for my sky challenge) but i changed it up quite a bit and used my good friend Raegan (who is also in my Acronym challenge, and my straight from the camera challenge).

anyway, to the shot. The dock was lit by a watch light across the parking lot behind me, so it looks like i had a dpotlight or some type of light blanketing the dock, and only the dock (and raegan). i really didn't expect this, but it ended up looking great, i thought. might be overwhelming to some, but i like it a lot.

took a few shots, then left.

Post Processing:
raw conversion
crop
levels / curves
imagenomic noiseware professional ran on it to remove some noise.
added slight cinema style border using canvas resize
resize to 640 on the long side
smart sharpen at 62%
save for web
done

good luck to all.. i really like this photo, so that means it'll tank and i'll maybe get a 5.5 if i'm lucky.

oh well, we'll see :D

Thanks so much to everyone for all the great comments. i really appreciate them. i screwed this one up in shooting by having the horizon a little unlevel...too rushed. but me and my friend raegan (she was my model in my acronym and Straight From the Camera challenge as well) were tired and i rushed it. i'm very happy with it, just wish i would have left more room at the bottom for after the crop. :( dang basic editing :D

thanks again. 15th is amazing:D

yeah, just wish like an idiot (i was in a hurry) that i wouldn't have rushed. i had to crop it cause the horizon was tilted, and when i did that it cut off her head at the bottom :(

sad day, but i'm VERY happy with the score, and the 15th placement.

thanks so much for the great comments, they're much appreciated.

I like the quirky color cast. It's like the setting sun entered her. 7

I really enjoy the colours here, although the figure is a tad bright for me. Also I would have liked to see a bit more on the bottom edge. It appears his head was cut off to top. Lastly I don't care for this style of border, I would much rather have liked a more uniform distance on all edges.

I love this shot!!! This is one of my favorites in the challenge. The colors are amazing. I am looking foward to seeing where and how this was done. This better be a ribbon winner. -10-

Great Idea and nice shot, she is a bit yellow for me & the reflection could use a bit more space at the bottom. Good Luck

Nice scene and location - I think the girl standing on the wooden post would have made this great rather than hiding her feet - Alternative Med?
