Submerge a rose (only half way) in water in a circular pan. Get the ice block out of the pan before it completely freezes to get two translucent ice surfaces. You will have to drain some water too. Set the block up, a small light (60W table lamp) behind the ice-block and a bigger (500W home-depot shop light) in front. Directional single source lighting is very important btw.
