A Homeless guy in san francisco with a f*cken awesome hat! Took this on the same day as my steet photography II entry.
He was walking in between cars at a stopped light with a really cool "flip sign" collecting money. My friend was driving, so I gave her a couple of bucks to give him. He came to the window and kept motioning to his hat and looking at my friend. She paused for a second, then shouted out "Oh Yeah, I f*cken love you!" (Jeez, my friends are awesome!) which made him smile as I took this shot.
It's not perfect, but I still think it's a classic. Then main thing that bothers me is that there isn't more room on the left side. I tried to compensate by cropping it, but whatever...it's a candid. There was also a really harsh shadow on his face from the hat which I managed to fix slightly by dodging and fading the light and the dark with the healing brush. I also desaturated, cloned out the bolts in the background (it was the side of a truck), neatimage, and smart sharpened quite a bit. Sigh, a lot of work for a seemingly simple shot, but that makes me only love it more :) |
