Lots of images within this to ponder; the bridge to the bright city centre, the single soul heading toward the bridge away from the dark old part of town, the framing by shadows, and even the frame itself, which I think works to emphasize the dark to light transition.
Your challenge entry had perhaps more immediate visual impact, but I very much like the view on this one as well. All the elements play well here - I like the symbolic nature of the bridge taking a path to an elsewhere that can only be imagined, not seen.
