Skating on the canal is always fun.
In brightly lit situations it's hard to get both the bright and dark areas exposed correctly. For basic editing the options to correct this in post processing are a bit limited. The highlights/shadow tool in photoshop CS helps a lot in these situations.
If the image wasn't for a basic editing challenge then you could take two images (one to expose the bright areas and one to expose the dark areas) then merge them in your editing software. |

| Was there an opportunity to shoot people going the other direction? If so, the sun would have illuminated their faces better. |
