As someone who has lived with a lot of depression around me, I don't see it as the color red. (I think that effected my vote, which was 5.) I understand what you are saying about the pain, but somehow, red is too warm for depression. I see it much more as a cold tone. My husband has written some very insightful poetry about his depression, and much of it involves darkness and isolation and ice and snow. |

Wow, I think that I have learned a great lesson in this particular challenge. It seems that the voters want "literal" and not an artsy statement. One person "got" my statement and said so. I think the rest of the voters prefer a very literal photo. I will not be trying these types of shots for these challenges again. And, the other thing I won't be trying again are the Free Studies! Wow, that's a lot of photos, with a lot of varying ranges to vote on. Too tough a field for me to crack!
All in all, I LOVE this shot because it has a lot of meaning behind it for me. And, while I'm disappointed with it's score (and really ticked at the 1's and 2's and even 3's on this shot as it didn't deserve that low a score)and placement, I will use it for other purposes now.
I thank those who truly "got it"!!! |

there's a surreal nostalgic effect for me, with the intriguing sepia-seventies processing and the corny afterschool special title. A truly unusual, fascinating image. 8 |

Nice light but the orange PP is a little much. |
