The local bug control team, working my neighbors yard this morning.
The birds are a common ibis that we call "curlew" locally, or as the pioneers in my mothers family at Chokoloskee Island called them "Chokoloskee Chicken. " They were a diet staple there at that time, from about 1860 thru 1935 or so.

Ha, Chokoloskee Chicken, I love it! I'm always planning for the day we have to return to the wild and forage for food. Now I can have these with my swamp cabbage.

Ibis are so fun to watch. It's very entertaining when they walk single file. Yesterday I stepped outside and heard a funny sounding "Honk!". I looked up saw five of them staring down from the tree like feathery gargoyles.
