A friend of mine committed suicide about a year ago at the age of 19. I still think a lot about him and it makes me sad that he is not among us anymore.

Unfortunately, this doesn't look too confusing - it looks like jelly, and the background is very grainy :(.

How would this look with a cooler color balance? The focus, detail and framing are nice.

On a scale of 0-2 in five different categories: Image quality - .5 (the blood doesn't look remotely real which hurts this shot). Composition - 1. Lighting - .5 (the lighting looks too yellow - while you may have intended that to give the hand more a more dead look it also yellowed your knife too). Post Processing - .5 (you probably could have done a lot in post processing to improve the shot using levels and brightness adjustments. Choice of Subject - 1.5 (I think your idea is creative). TOTAL SCORE - 4

The position of the hand makes him really look life less. Its a great idea, but the blood looks to fake.

neat idea for the "final exit". i really like the way the hand is positioned and the overall effect of the shot, but the fake blood could have been a little more realistic for the shot. great job.

Classic shot; what's the goo on the wrist and the shine at the right; I would have cropped it out. The hand would stand alone; a black background with the bloodless hand and natural colors would have worked well

mot a very appealing color-sceme here. I think the "blood" not being red and the knife being clean reall brings a good idea way down.

The blood looks fake, and the lighting isn't so hot....

Is that jam/jelly? I hope so!

I like the idea, but the yellow/green hue on the hand is a tad much. And is that jelly that I see on his wrist?

I like how the blood is only visible in the top right corner. It emphasizes the life in death.

Not a lot of blood for a slit wrist - must have missed the artery! The concept is good, and the composition and focus is right, but the lack of blood takes away some 'credibility' - that said, if it were there you would probably be slated for gratuitous gore....

Sorry, for no other reason than an extremely personal one, "suicide suggested" photos I find very difficult to look at, and as with every such shot in every challenge, I vote right down. There's nothing technically bad about this shot, and it does meet the challenge, but I appalls me. I vote instinctively and emotionally to a very large extent on challenges - unfortunately this one hits hard and it will get a low vote from me...but then it's just one vote....
