 This photo captures the moment sunlight first hit ocean waters along the Gold Coast of Hawaii on January 6 of this year. I deliberately processed the image to retain the dark tones of the water, to record the last few moments of lingering night even as waves bore golden highlights at the crack of dawn.

RAW: increased exposure compensation, fill light and contrast a small amount. Converted to jpeg.

PS: levels, cloned out dust, and USM slightly. Used dodge tool to lighten sun highlights in the water. Resized.

Nice color in the sky, but IMO, a bit dark overall. Nice use of 3rds in placement of the sun in the photo.

Beautiful capture of a sunrise. The sky is just beautiful, with the lighter clouds atop and the darker ones below. Very nicely done.
