A baby newt I found under a brick in my yard. I picked out a leaf, prayed some water on it and dropped the little guy on the leaf. This was one of the last shots I took and definitely the best. I wasn't going to enter anything into this challenge b/c all I had were shot of birds and I wanted to be different, so I'm glad I found this guy. The border is a little different for me, but I really like the way it turned out. I kinda think I should have made it brighter, but I think it looks alright.
Editing: rotate, crop, brighten, color, curves, contrast, neat image, and border.

This is a great shot of the little guy. I think shallow DOF shots tend to underscore on here really.

What a cute little guy! I really like the very shallow DOF used here and the composition is very good with strong diagonals and the nice curve of the tail.

An interesting capture - not sure I've ever seen this kind of lizard? newt? skink? The big shadow under his head and shallow DOF don't do him any favors, IMHO, but the most important thing - his eyes - are in focus, and the colors are really nice.

Ooh, slimy . . . cool. Wish the framing wasn't so prominent (pers preference).

nice shot. DOF is great. Needs a little more light.

Looks kind of sparkly. DOF seems extremely shallow.

I love the shape and movement here, but your point of focus (the eyes) doesn't have enough contrast to really suck me in. A slightly different angle from your light source might've helped. The yellowish color cast also seems to reduce the "pop" from this image, possibly because your little creature seems to have a yellowish skin tone. A cooler overall tone might've created more emotional pull.

too dark

This has wonderful DOF. The intense green of the leaf is a nice contrast to his golden almost metallic looking skin. 7

Nice. I would have given you a much higher score if the body was a lot less blurry.
