Okay, this is one of those shots I'm afraid people just aren't going to get. It's inspired by this shot:
It was shot by a friend of mine a couple of years ago while we were doing some bodywork on his car. I've always thought it had a pretty sinister sort of feel to it, like 'that guy is about to get whacked'. I've had it as my messenger picture on and off ever since, and other people have commented similarly--it seems to trigger creepy/death thoughts. So, I wanted to capture that feel. I'm not exactly sure what it is about that shot that does it, but I think I've done a pretty reasonable job of replicating it here. So, my 'exit', obviously, is death, which I think is a pretty legitimate approach to the challenge, but I'm not totally confident that it exudes enough death to convince the voters... We'll see I guess. I could put a hand and a gun in to my temple from the right, and I think it would fit, and look great, and no one would have any trouble getting it, but I want people to get the feel, not simply be told (though I guess the title does point in that direction).
Also, this is my first real experiment with 'set-up' lighting. An SB-26 on a stand up to the top right, triggered optically by the on camera flash at low power. Both with red filters. Reflector in front too, but that was probably redundant. Anyway, I think it turned out okay. |

| I really like this photograph and the angle at which it was shot, but I think you should try to incorporate something that more relates to the meaning of the word exit. |
