Gnarly, 15th place. Whoo hoo. Finally. 25th last week, 15th this week. Thanks!

This was shot from Cabrillo National Park in San Diego. I knew what shot I wanted which is why I went up there and the boats and whether cooperatated.

If you ever come to San Diego this Park is a MUST. It's $5 to get in for the day but it overlooks everything in San Diego and is worth every penny.

This got one of my top scores, if I were to nit pic, the boat is pointing down slightly, kind of turning out of the shot, excelent shot tho for the challenge.

Sweet picture, love the angle. You really had a great location to shoot this. Love your subject and how well it stands out. Nice work.

I have searched through the challenge for those entries where the negative space is more than just a plain black or white backdrop because, whilst I think that technique often makes for some really strong and high impact images, I’m particularly drawn to entries where the negative space is relevant to the subject itself and actually contributes to the impact of the picture in a contextual as well as purely compositional way.

Whilst the image is quite cliched it’s a cliché for a reason – it works. Certainly the negative space together with the jaunty angle of the boat combine to give an impression of speed, freedom and fun. The limited colour palette adds impact too.

Beautiful! Would be stronger with the boat a little higher and further left in the frame, but well done!!!!
