 I'm sure I'll get DNMC comments for this, but it's the only thing I have that's even close. These are the hands of Roy and Mary Popkin, my friends from the Song Title Challenge. He's 86, she's 74, and they've been married for 35 years.

Taken with onboard flash, so the lighting isn't good. I tried what I could with curves, dodging, and burning to add some contrast and enhance what shadows there were.

I really like the subject choice in this photo - I think the hands are beautiful and convey the sentiment of a long life together very well. However, I think the photo could be executed better with a solid black background.

While the image does not scream battle of, it can be easily identified with this concept. The detail of the hands is immense, but overall not a ribbon winner on my judgement.

Although I only gave this an 8, I feel it was an excellent photograph and conveyed a 'wealth' of emotion with a such simple image. Well done.
