A lot of Photoshop work was done on this photo. I don't think it would qualify for Best of 2006. The wing tip was slightly out of the frame, and I created it via cloning. I also removed a lot of power lines and a couple of branches.

This was taken very early in the morning with the rising sun shining on the hawk.

Doing his morning exercises ;-) Really nice light and I love the wing position; I think you did a nice job with the cloning of the wing tip.

It's great, not easy getting these raptors to cooperate! Nice on the PP too!

Boy do i know how it feels to come so close to getting a really wow shot only for it to have technical flaws...ugh... I think could use a little noise reduction still?
But you did manage a good capture here. It is so close... nice work keep it up!

HOLY cow! What a glorious shot. You and noraneko could host a wildlife shooting workshop.

This is beyond awesome! I never would have guessed at the cloning either. I sincerely hope you win with this one!

This is a great capture, but I agree it probably would not have passed the advanced editing test with the wing cloning. I was only able to tell because I take a ton of wildlife shots as well, and I suspected that thicker frame up top was due to cloning to finish out those wings.

It looks like you also may have been a little heavy-handed with the shadow/highlight tool here. Although I think it works very well on the hawk (his details are gorgeous), the sky looks a little washed out.

There is no doubt in my mind this will do well in the contest. You should be very proud of these outstanding photos!

Gorgeous capture and focus - excellent job on the cloning!! I would never have known! Like what you did with the frame, too.
