Challenge: Best of 2006 (Advanced Editing V*)
Camera: Nikon D50
Lens: Nikon AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 ED
Location: Castle Wood Canyon
Date: May 14, 2006
Aperture: f9
ISO: 200
Shutter: 1/320
Galleries: Macro, Floral
Date Uploaded: Jan 11, 2007

This is one of the first photos I took as a photographer. I used my brand new D50 and the lens that came with it to compose this photo. Not knowing anything I used Picasa to edit and put the selective saturation on it. Then I cropped and edited with photoshop later. I still look at this shot as one of my all time greats!

I find the subtle fade to desaturation quite appealing in the particular image, lends a bit of intrigue. The more I gaze at this the more I enjoy it, beautiful bokeh also...very nice.

For me, the flower is too central in the frame and the editing on this image doesn't work (just my humble opinion)

Nice and bright but not fond at all of the processing. I think everything should have been left in colour.

Good focus and I like the contrast between the blues and yellows. I also think the centered composition works for the shape of the flower. I really don't like the grey on the edge of the petals or background, though.

This has an arresting strangeness to it.

Fascinating tones moving from grey to yellow. The BG enhances the shot. I'd prefer the shot to be off-centered for more interest.

Neat shot but can't say I'm crazy about the de-sat.6
