hahaha! i had fun doing this. i came up with the concept at the last minute and decided to give it a go. i've no doubt that i'm going to get smashed to pieces for this challenge, but i don't care. criticise all you want!!! i like this shot! :)
i wanted to be silly and enter a self portrait. i set my camera up and used the remote to take photos of myself. it took me about 20 shots before i got the one i liked.
what i did:
1. i shot in raw, then in photoshop i cropped the shot a little, adjusted brightness, contrast, saturation and whitebalance. that's all.
2. i added 2 borders: one thin black border, one big white border ... to give the shot a "polaroid" look. using a handwriting font i already had, i added the writing "say cheese!".
3. then i rotated the image a few degrees and added the drop shadow. finally i added another layer underneath and put the gray background on it.
4. the intention was to give the impression that the image was rotated, so i wanted to fool the viewer's eye by using the same coloured background as dpchallenge ... a small optical illusion.
please be kind to me! :)
btw, i had already taken a photo of my wife for the 'black and white portrait challenge' ... i had to unsubmit it to enter this challenge. i'm a bit disappointed about that. i'm taking a big gamble on this shot. |
