Thanks for all the positive feedback. This was my first serious entry. I learned a lot from the comments...mainly that I would have done a lot better had I been able to do something with the burn out on his forhead, and if I had cropped him with a little more space on the left. Next time.

holy @#$%! i can't believe this didn't score higher. 103rd? Only 8 9's? (one of which was mine) This photo is so real and so un-messed with, which is how i like 'em best. This is an EXCELLENT portrait. Should have been in the top 20 imhao (and that would stand for: in my heartfelt amateur opinion).

A solid entry here ... good contrast good focus. I would probably have cropped it slightly different to off center the subject, but that is just my taste... good luck

I like the lighting and the clarity. I ranked this really high. The only suggestion I would have is to mess with th composition- how does it look if you applied the 'rule of 1/3s'? Congrats on a superior image.

Background somehow is wrong for this guy. I don't know why or how to fix. Great potential in that face.

Excellent character study! I can't help thinking it needs more on the left or less on the right, though. 7

The lighting and focus are nice. I think it might be more appealing if you crop it and just have his wonderful face filling the frame.

Outstanding in my opinion! A very expressive and captivating portrait.

Charismatic, I detect a slight squinting though -7

the blown out section on the forehead really detracts from this image
