not a portrait and too small
01/16/2007 08:57:37 PM
i really don't see how this relates to the challenge. Also the image is too small to see what's going on.
01/16/2007 07:41:19 PM
its to small, not in focus, not a portrait and too contrasty... are you trying to get the brown?
01/16/2007 07:07:19 AM
The image is a bit small, and I don't see how this fits portrait?
01/15/2007 12:52:29 PM
wow. off topic and....well im not even sure what i m loooking at to be honest. can't make out the details cause it's so small.

for the future: NEVER make your submission this small cause it will get nailed, even if it's ON topic.
01/15/2007 02:12:32 AM
this picture has no character
01/14/2007 11:44:07 PM
What is this a portrait of?
01/14/2007 11:40:12 PM
Lacks resolution, context and meaning. I do see some potential though.

nothing to hold the eye at all, there are to many shapes and lines, yet everything is indistinct, its overwheleming yet dull. Too small

I am so boggled by this entry into the B&W Portrait challenge. It is small ... It is busy ... I am not sure what it is a portrait OF ... sorry ... I missed your point.

??
01/12/2007 10:16:34 AM
Have you, perhaps, uploaded the wrong photo?
01/12/2007 12:22:03 AM
Check out the turorials. Go with max size a challenge allows or at least 640 on the long side. Really dont see a portrait here. The lighting is real harsh. Just take some time and read.
01/11/2007 10:21:01 PM
I Really can't see what it is.. The quality of the image is simply to low, to see any detail..
01/11/2007 04:27:05 PM
To small and the highlights are blown out...no detail in the shadows portions either...sorry...
01/11/2007 03:51:19 PM
Portrait of a bowl??????? *smile*
01/11/2007 03:45:28 PM

01/11/2007 03:15:10 PM
It's a bit small, I can't really see whats going on there???
01/11/2007 12:59:25 PM

01/11/2007 12:33:07 PM

01/11/2007 12:32:33 AM
Where's the person?
01/11/2007 12:10:09 AM
too small, and hard to tell what it is, too much contrast 2
01/10/2007 09:17:49 PM
This is a horrible photo. Doesnt fit the challenge, to small, out of focus.
01/10/2007 07:14:57 PM

Please tell me you weren't being serious when you entered this...
01/10/2007 05:24:15 PM
DNMC for me...a portrait? a pictorial representation of a person usually showing the face
01/10/2007 04:58:54 PM
I dont get this picture
01/10/2007 04:36:42 PM
I don't see any portrait - but then again, the picture is way too small to see anything...
01/10/2007 03:20:20 PM
I'm sure a million people will point out the faults in this. As it is, I have no reservations giving it a 1. I dont really see how this could be considered a portrait, but I'll try to offer some constructive criticism anyways. The bowl? has good contrast in it, but your small size and lack of detail hurts it alot. By using a larger, higher quality image, youd bring out the detail and texture that are essential in a black and white. The contrast is there; adding the other two could make this a decent black and white (although not a portrait!).

Hope that helps, better luck next time.
01/10/2007 02:49:39 PM
To tiny to see.
01/10/2007 02:09:26 PM
Where's the portrait. Not seeing it. Picture small and badly composed.
01/10/2007 12:42:49 PM
Too small.

portrait

noun
1. a painting of a person's face
2. a word picture of a person's appearance and character [syn: portrayal]
3. any likeness of a person; "the photographer made excellent portraits"
01/10/2007 09:37:41 AM
is this supposed to be a portrait?
01/10/2007 08:13:37 AM
I think the photo is overcontrasted.
01/10/2007 07:46:16 AM
Very small and noisy
01/10/2007 04:55:37 AM
Not on topic.
01/10/2007 01:51:49 AM
black and white portrait???
01/10/2007 12:55:49 AM
I see b&w ... I don't see a "portrait" though. Size and quality looks kind of like a camera phone. Anyway, point being ... make use of the full resolution available to you in the challenge (most are 640 pixels, I think this one is 720, but your image looks like it's only about 300 pixels across).
01/10/2007 12:52:10 AM
I don't think this meets the challenge intent. It is not a portrait, but a still life.
01/10/2007 12:51:11 AM
too small
