During the holidays, three gentlemen from Russia played classical music - on accordians. And they were awesome! Since they set up shop across from the Starbucks in Wiesbaden, I had the good fortune to hear them more than once.

Converted to B&W with channel mixer, very slight curves adjustment, crop, sharpen, a touch of Neat Image, bit o' bright/contrast, and resize for web.

What a nice B&W exposure! I can almost hear the accordion, and the technicals are spot on, save a little over exposure in some portions. The striking textures and detail on the accordion boost this up 2 points from mediocrity to a 7. I like looking at this capture!

This is a perfect B&W portrait that focuses well on the music of the photo. It should have scored much higher and indeed did in my mind!

Deb,
I'm surprised this one didn't score higher. I gave it an 8. I think you did very well with the tonal range, and I like the crop. Another great photo!

Missed this one in voting, but I probably would've given it a 6. The details, tones, and patterns are quite interesting.

Crop is less tightly so I see who's playing and it might've been higher.

Another Melethia urban delight! I missed this because try as I might, I didn't finish voting on all the photos in this big challenge, but I sure would have voted it higher than 5.4! It just makes me want to be there listening outside to the music going on in the street.

Still believe it is a good B&W

In my opinion either you keep the head in the shot or you crop in tight to get just the musical instrucment. Having a headless person is a bit disconcerting.

It's a proper instrument, the button accordion - there are things you can play on one of those that you can't play on anything else. I don't think this is a great photograph - it's OK, but it lacks the elements that would make it more than a simple illustration of an instrument.

That is alot of buttons. Very good photo. I hope it sounded as good as it looks.
