My first foray into astrophotography... taken on my parent's farm in Baldwin Co., Alabama.
Details: 4 composite images representing approximately 10 min. of cumulative exposure time. Used Canon 100-400mm L-Series zoom lense & 1.4x Telextender (560mm equivalent). Placed on Orion Skyview Pro Equatorial Tracking mount (non-guided), aimed for the nebula in Orion's sword.
Came away from this observing session with a lot of lessons, including the importance of precise polar alignment for the mount, and the importance of taking more exposures than you will think you will need.
