It's a bit distracting to have two distinct areas in focus - I find my eye jumping from the cable to the wood on the left and back. Perhaps changing the focal plane so it aligns more with the cable might help?

I think you would need a longer DOF and different angle on the cable to draw the viewer into this photo. It is difficult to appreciate the textures without more area in focus.

There's not enough context in the image to determine if there's any connection to the challenge. The title should not be the only connection.

The subject matter here didn't do anything for me; close focus on the center of a piece of cable; I found the background distracting, and what was in the foreground not of enough interest.
