I think I know this picture (maybe I saw it while vote period), and I remember I loved it. Like now.

I love the shot, it's beautiful. To me it almost looks more like smoke. I wonder if you had named it "fire on the mountain" or something like that if it would have had a different effect for people.

I don't know how anyone could have given this a 1, even in such an intensely competitive challenge...save for the possibility (against the rules) of feeling that it didn't meet the challenge theme as well as others. In my opinion, this was among the most "photographic in nature" compositions submitted, and I hope you'll consider working this one up into a print for others to enjoy.

The gray tones give this a very eerie fell that I like very much

It's difficult for me to think of this as harsh, it is so inviting :) It is, however, a beautiful image. I wonder if getting in a bit closer (no sky, no branches intruding at the left) would also work. Those silhouettes are great. ~7

Awesome photograph the tones are absolutely perfect for the conditions. The composition is quite good as well. I especially like how you can tell the dog is looking back at you. Excellent!

Love the feeling of this, very dark and mysterious. The silhouettes are captured VERY well, and the overall exposure and contrast is spot-on. Well done! 10

Maybe a bit more contrast would have helped put a bit more punch into this great picture.

Nice, simple scene of walking the dog even when the weather isn't too nice. Composition works well.

I never really thought of fog as being harsh. I was hoping to see more use of the expert editing...am I missing it?

good idea... but there is not much contrast

Great shot. I love the silhouettes and the fog. Feels huge and cold. My eyes would like to see a little more contrast within the image - maybe brighten the lights and darken the silhouettes - just my opinion. Great job and back to bump you up to 8.

I absolutely love this: I can almost hear that silence that hangs around in the fog. The desaturation works so well (if in fact you did desat)...because it emphasises how fog desaturates the world: stripping it of colour, light and sound.

Normally I would have said this image lacked contrast as it´s very flat but I think that actually works with this one, nicely composed and I like the tones in it. 7

Wow, love this shot.
I'd have been tempted to give it a bit of a boost in contrast and possible vignet the edges very slightly.
