 I went back to the forest where I had taken my picture for the November, 2005 "Camouflage" challenge,

It is a deeply wooded area near the Loch Raven Resevoir not as desolate as it appears. This time of year the trees are defoliated and the area deeper in the forest has a forboding feeling to it. I walked around taking several shots. This one struck me as the one that fit the challenge description most succinctly.
The challenge rules allow alot of freedom in post processing. Basically I cropped the image and played around with Levels, curves, saturation, contrast, and selective colors until I found a result that I liked. This is a single picture with no layering involved. I also cloned out some branches extending into the picture on the upper left and cleaned up a few sensor dust spots. Neat Image was used to smooth out the sky. I allowed more saturation to the colors in the forest and a slightly unnatural appearance to the sky than I would normally because of the nature of the contest and to give it a somewhat surrealistic feeling. I will be very interested to see how this picture is received as it is somewhat of an experiment for me.

I have a hard time saying anything about this shot as I find it neither good or bad. I like the color of the foreground, dislike the bland grey sky and the lack of a strong subject that pulls at my attention. 5

too red, not much going on. I think you could do something with this shot, I would like to have seen it in black & white and some strong contrast. It does fit the challenge. Lost? maybe if there were someone or something lost in the shot?

Even though I think the photo looks like a basic photo...(sorry if I'm wrong)...I still think it totally captures the spirit of the challenge.
