Yep, the moon really did rise next to the U.S. Capitol. The only thing outside of advanced rules is that I replaced the small moon with a not-so-reduced version that's also exposed properly.

If you grop the photo and keep only the uper level of the capitol and the moon in a portrait oriented photo will be great result i think. I like this kind of photos witch you know that it is not true but you wish to be true.

To echo, I have tryed many times for a nice moon shot and well...lets not go there, lol. What lens do you use for the larger shots you have? I have a 300mm but it's just not it, I have considered buying a small (4.5") reflector telescope with a camera body adaptor just for this type of shot, any thoughts??

Although the moon here is not overexposed, i think its a bit too big. I think a smaller moon (somewhere half way between this and what you had previously) might make this look more realistic and more appealing. Beaytiful image nontheless. I have yet to get a successful shot of the moon.
