When I think of brown, I immediately think of my favorite thing....chocolate! It was a chilly day and I was in the mood for a nice cup of hot cocoa, and some truffles. Sometimes I add some truffles to the hot cocoa, to make it even that more chocolatey.
I dont own an SLR (yet) so I dont have different lenses. I took the picture outside, on my driveway,With the lighting coming from the left, before chowing down. : )

I'm guessing the right side is chocolatemilk? I'm missing the nice brown chocolatty colour here.

Lighting to harsh imho.

I like the composition, but the drink doesn't look appetising :) Maybe making the drink a really dark cocoa colour or using darker chocolates would have provided a contrast; as it is they're both very similar shades of brown.

The brown is washed out and not rich enough. Saturate the brown, add contrast and take down the exposure.

or a broken heart, sweets are in focus but would be excellent if cocoa was too

lovely detail on the chocolates! 7!

Wish the top of the mug were also in focus, it's such a large part of the photo that I think your DOF ruins this shot.

The hot chocolate being out of focus doesn't work for me. It is kinda hard to get the drink in focus and the chocolates too. (I tried and I could find a decent shot I liked). I do like the idea however as it definitely meets the challenge. 6
