This pinon pine tree is located in a rest area near South Fork, Colorado. A couple of years ago there was a heavy snow storm that damaged a lot of the trees - this one had a damaged branch cut off and the sap has been running out of it ever since. It is actually frozen now. I noticed this summer it had some insects stuck in the sap - we went there today and the ant and fly were still stuck just where they were at the beginning of fall. I think it's kind of neat - it shows how bugs get inside of amber which is old sap.

Editing: Crop; adjustment levels for levels, curves, selective color & contrast; flatten; select background with quick mask and paintbrush tool; remove noise from background only; save selection; resize; reload selection; sharpen only tree part; deselect; use sharpen tool on some of the sap and the fly and ant; use blur tool on some of the background.

not enough focus...I can't see the characters described in the title. It's too abstract for me.

I'm sorry, I just can't see an ant and a fly....

It took me a moment to find both of them :) I like how the sap hanging from the tree looks almost like icicles. I also like the texture/pattern it creates, especially where it criss-crosses at a diagonal with the cut marks. It certainly makes you think of "sticky". ~7

I would have liked an even closer view of on of the critters. Maybe a macro lens? Don't even have one myself, yet. :>)

I think that if the focus of your picture should be the ant and fly, that they should be larger and the main focus, instead of the tree and having to search for what you want the focus to be. Sorry! Cool picture otherwise though
