kat, I agree with Jeff and think this photo could be improved with higher contrast in the mountain itself. The sky looks great, but the ground looks subdued compared to it. I am by no means and implying that I did it the 'right' way or anything like that, but after I visited the badlands I felt like my images lacked a 'punch', so I did some selective dodging and burning (and added some lightness/darkness layers) to accentuate their visual interest. I hope it won't offend you to link to my pic, which I am only posting as an example of what might be possible, nothing more. Wasn't this place a complete trip to visit? What a bizarre landscape! |

Hi Kat,
Just posting a comment to this pic from the list of pics that have no comment thread. I like the pic a lot - The muted colours are nice but if there was just one criticism I would have to say that the pic could have a little more impact if the contrast and saturation was pumped up a little - But not too much. Maybe also some foreground interest could add a little something. Hope these comments are helpful - You have some great images in your portfolio. |
