Your main subject gets swallowed up too much by the background. Bring us in closer to look at this lovely Beagle sporting a bright red scarf. The composition's visual interest would be greatly strengthened if the dog filled 60% or more of the frame. As it stands now, we don't get to see much expression on the dog's face because we are too far away to appreciate it. Plus, the red scarf is such a bold color in the overall composition that it is the first thing that captures one's attention and unfortunately tends to hold it. With such a bold color it would have been better to have had the composition be only a close-up of the Beagle wearing it. The bold color would draw the eye but then would draw back to see only the dog wearing it - thereby keeping the focus on the main subject by limiting how many elements dominate the scene. Here there are too many elements: the green of the park backdrop, the bench, the leash.... Bring the viewer closer to your main subject by filling the frame with the subject and/or one or two elements. If you do that this photo will move out of the average and into an above average category.

Very cute picture, think that it would have been even better if cropped more and minus the leash, but then again, he/she might have taken off. Non the less, well done.

Awww, such a sweet face. I love the bright red scarf. For me, it gives a nice contrast and makes the photo from being to subdued in colors....plus I'm partial to beagles.

6 - Nice outdoor shot. Mainly the lead, dominates too much. A little sharper too. Perhaps a much tighter crop, if the quality was there, who knows.

soft focus, flat, highlights in the sky are blown. Moving the dog off center might create more interest. Sweet face, good dept of field

i like the washed out low contrast look as it adds to the dog's forlorn feeling. I wish you took the leash off as it takes away tremendously from the shot for me.

Nice shot. Background is a little bit distracting.

The pet is very cute. What happened to the background? Looks bizarre.

the leash kills it for me
