okay so first of all it took me awhile for him to sit still - he was all for playing in the snow so this may have just been a lucky shot! (by the way his name's Oscar, and is a pure bread German Shepard)

Cropped, balanced colours, enhanced contrast, clarified, enhanced saturation, preserved the edges, and sharped, save for web

3 - Dog looking at or at least 'toward' camera and the lighting much more subtle, make this better in my opinion.

Oh! nice flash, I usually don't like when you see that the picture is flashed but this is nice. Snow.

The angle of his face isn't doing much for him. Maybe a more straight-on shot would have helped.

When composing your shot, its best if your subject is looking into the frame rather than out of it. The lighting I also a little harsh. A daytime shot would have been easier and more effective. (Of course hard to get at this time of year too).
