Wonderfully emotive shot. I like donkeys! You've gotten some good tips worth trying. Since you can't really do anything about the focus at this point, you could try a spitshine of one or more photoshop art filters - like poster edges, cutout, chalk and charcoal, etc. While it wouldn't make this crowd love it, you might still squeeze a moody, artsy image out of it. I hope you will take more donkey pictures!

I love that you brought donkeys to what was essentially a "dog and cat" show! They are very cute and obviously great pals. Unfortunately, the photo is a bit dark and not quite in focus. A bit of dodging on the donkeys' faces might help bring them out a bit more?

Thanks everyone for comments during the challenge. I knew of course that a portrait traditionally shows just the face, but shooting equids (ie horses, ponies, donkeys) is tricky as they have such long faces. Also taking into account that these beasties tend to 'talk' with their whole bodies, not just their faces, is why I chose to shoot as I did.

4 - Looks like some resizing/something issues. Little blurry too so sharper and the donkeys faces more visible, make this better in my opinion. Not so tightly cropped/more space around them too.

It is hard to get a portrait of such a large animal, but to me a portrait should have a more formal feel and the faces are most important. This shot could use better lighting, and the first thing I notice is the body of the donkey on the left. I have to make myself look for the face.

I like the subjects and the photo is a bit flat.

Your picture looks blurry in places, could be sharper. The color also could be boosted some. But I have to say I love the candid moment. Whether it really is or not, it looks very tender.

Yes, they seem to be enjoying a conversation.

this image would be better with sharper focus and better reduction of noise in post processing
