I love the dark background. Lighting is great. DOF is a bit to shallow. I would like to see more of the flower in focus. I agree that there is to much black on this orientation. The composition really demands a landscape layout. I would have also cloned out the 'crimp' on the furthest left petal. A spritz of water would have made it perfect.

i like this photo i love the idea.. would also like to see it with a dark red background, and more in focus... but it's beautiful just the way it is too.. just saying how I would like to see it... good work

Most compelling of the thumbs you posted, but I think the foreground part of the flower is a bit soft. Would like to see it all in focus. Love the comp, though. :)

Another (um, er) I saved this for last, hoping for inspiration. I found it. This is the other universe the other white flower went to and it's just peeking through. (Smily face here)

Seriously though, or at least moderately so, the two that I am calling the (Um Er-s) are nice experiments and I think you have three marketable ones for sure in this batch.

IF that wounded leg of yours is making you turn to macro photography, it's good for something. This is beautiful stuff. Keep it coming.

Another brilliant crop and nice use of negative space. The contrast between the background and the rose is wonderful. I like it a lot. It's really creative, and a refreshing new take for flower composition.

I think maybe this would work better with a landscape orientation... it just feels 'heavy' at the top with all the black. Also, the focus seems to be on the back petals instead of the center ones (or front ones), which is a little odd to me. The lighting is quite well done, though.
