OK, here we go. 5D is in the shop. Yes this is done with a camera that is 5 years old, has 3.1 MP and a battery that is good for about 25 shots on a charge. Woo hoo!

A few things. One, some credit for the idea goes to fadedbeauty and his blue ribbon shot in Phobia. At least I knew the technique was possible from his shot. Second, I promise I had this idea before the zombie hand in Death. When voting I saw that shot and screamed "Noooooo!" Well, I'm going for it anyway.

The record for the S30 is 7.4. I don't think I'm going to do it, but do hope for a 6.5. It's a bit edgy for DPC, but come on there's dirt in there people!!!!

OK, we all know this is going to be another low scoring challenge along the lines of Death, so I should be happy with a 6.2. We'll see. If Joey can get a ribbon sawing his foot off, I can do well with this. Ya, right!

Exellent image for a P&S. I know the feeling with my SLR in the shop too. That explains the DOF thing that seemed not quite right to me during voting. That dirt looks like plants would love it.
Maybe "Alien Compost" would be an alternate title?

OK, so you had more dirt in your photo than mine. But I think I kicked your butt on originality and DOF with my little ole P&S, don't you? Kudos for a score that was better than mine. :)

Ouch. Wrong on just about every count in your predictions. I guess DOF does make a difference between P&S and DSLR. But I gotta hand it to ya for trying! Best of luck surviving whatever Judi cooks up. :)

Seriously, I think your camera let you down. It doesn't have that super clarity that is so needed in the challenges. The execution is good and the scene is totally believable so I'd blame that camera! :P

I actually expected this to score higher than it did. Gave it a 7 in challenge. Thought it was oneof the better buried images int he challenge. Not the best one though - but better. ;)

Good concept, I would've like to see the hand more closeup and in the thirds compositionally.

Nice shot for Halloween. Too bad it isn't more morbid looking. Good job

told you not to stand be hind the tipper truck, ha ha, great, well composed shot, not keen on the border, but hey it's the photo that counts, well done.

While the photo doesn't really speak to me per se, I can't believe some poor sap allowed themselves to be burried like that! Ok, anyone going through that much personal discomfort for a shot deserves a little higher score. I'd normally give you a 6 but I'll give you a 7 for your effort. WOW

Wish I had this kind of dirt in my yard. I didn't think about it till too late, but this is almost like my idea, "Quicksand". The scene would be just a hat on wet ground, and maybe a hand out of the ground.
Good effort, and big depth of field, maybe a little too much, as the background in the corner attracts my eyes away from the foreground. I keep looking up there for something that isn't there.

The hand doesn't really seem to be in focus here, the picture is just not selling dirt, but "creep", and as creepy pictures go, it isn't very creepy because of all the clutter in the back. Nice fence. ~5
