I really hope that this is fake...if not, well then. I won't even say what I want to. I'm a Vet. Tech.

I dodn't understand this. Is this a dog? What is the purpose?

don't care for the photo quality, like the idea

okay, i can't help it-- i'm gonna give my honest opinion here. this is disturbing, and not a good photo. i'm sorry but i don't want to see this. what does the title mean? why is the man poking at the dog? background is too busy. photo is washed out in spots, and not in focus. i don't want to make any assumptions about this entry being sheerly for shock value and to piss people off, but there are a lot of animal lovers on this site. why would you want to do this to them? 1

I did not give this a high score for a couple reasons: The background up top is distracting, and the animal sort of blends into the white snow. Tones seem pretty flat to me. Basically with the subject matter being what it is, it needs a good artistic treatment to be visually appealing as a photo and I do not find that here.. one thing I do think you had right was that the selective desaturation definitly adds to the gross impact of the subject, and if that is what you were going for then I think you were on the right track with it.

this shot is not in very good focus and is quit grainy. Also I find it quite horrific as it looks like you really are disembowelling this dog

what's this? I surely hope this isn't real.

I find it too much out of focus.

I thought of commenting on all the shots in this challenge, and hence I am, but I don't think I can look at it long enough to actually comment something useful about the picture itself

Well that's death alright! I don't really have a problem with gruesome images, but this one is having a lot of trouble technically. I can't find a single sharp point in it and the selective desaturation doesn't seem to convey anything a full black and white or full color image wouldn't, except for the emphasis on blood maybe. But the eye will go there anyway. Double check focus and shutter speed.

Technicals: soft focus. composition is decent. Contrast probably works with such a harsh subject.
The feel: I'm not quite sure what is being accomplished here. It looks like he's just pointing at the dog. I'm guessing from the title we are to suspect he "did it", but I'm not getting that feel.

is it a dog??

This is a bit blurry and overexposed; unfortunately there's not much detail in the fur.
