Well, It's not actually a River, it's a lake.
...and it's not all that deep either. About 3 feet at the deepest point I think.
But calling it "lake shallow" sounded pretty lame : )

Not a whole lot of editing done
Changed to B/W with channel mixer
Hue/sat and selective colour layers under the channel mixer layer to tweek the tones.
levels
curves
a little dodge and burn
a little USM
oh, originally it was portrait but I cropped the bottom 1/3 to make it a square crop when I decided to enter in the Free Study.

Again, this is so underrated, but yet, there were some excellent images in this challenge. I love this strong black and white image, so very much. I wonder if it would have done better as a landscape format, re cropping, to take away some of the darkness of the bottom. It doesn't bother me as I love square crops and love this image just the way it is.

VERY well seen and captured. A stunning photo! I really enjoy the perspective on this as you made a great choice to show as much water/reflection as you have. B/W suits this quite well also. Have I mentioned yet that I like this? :D Take care.

I really like the balck and white, but I think there is too much emphasis on the water, and it needs more of the sky.

why B&W here? it's not a bad shot, but color might have been interesting. What's the white bldg in the distance? A dock?

I think there is a bit too much negative space for such a lovely capture. Above average vote.

Beautiful...
I really like the composition with the horizon in the top of the picture - and your B&W sork is perfect.

Very nice - Maybe a splash in that black foreground to the left may have just added a little more interest? Very calming though as is.
