Stick feather under thumbnail. Hold thumb to sky in painter pose. Take picture. NI, crop, resize, levels, curves, calculations to bw, add border, pray.

This was simply an experiment by an amateur. I won't begrudge ' . substr('//www.dpchallenge.com/images/user_icon/21.gif', strrpos('//www.dpchallenge.com/images/user_icon/21.gif', '/') + 1) . ' agenkin his 4. As ' . substr('//www.dpchallenge.com/images/user_icon/21_N.gif', strrpos('//www.dpchallenge.com/images/user_icon/21_N.gif', '/') + 1) . ' RKT said, the thumb is pure absurdity. I thought it looked like part of the skyline. And absurdity is highly subjective. :)

Nice shot, like the bw- so bucket is right hot model does well but don't give in. This is well set up I think the focus is soft and that could have taken it down. I think you have a wonderful eye this is art. Keep it up.

ok let's be clear...this type of work hasn't a chance in the DPC world...
get your act together, find a girl, dress her in soft whites, and take a close-up...

quite intriguing this feather caught by a thumb...really very original...and I can't help thinking that it forces the viewer to think a little too much...why? does he hate birds? or is this someone who has recently broken up with his wife, and then realized he no longer needs to sleep with feather pillows...he holds this one last remnant of their relationship up to the sky, he is crying (thus the motion blur around the thumb)...
you should consider doing a thumbscape series..really...just try to get the thumb not moving...(yeah I know, but c'mon look at your shutter speed...)...here comes the smiley...:)

Heh! You got an RKT comment - that beats score or ribbon any day! I love the part about the absurdity of the thumb, too. I was one of your 6's. I thought it different enough to warrant consideration of more than just "eh". The more I look at it, the more I like it, but not as much as some of your other efforts.

Sorry, Don: I didn't get it. I still don't get it, having read your comment. :) Gave this a 4.

Well...now this is a change of pace, and a most welcome at that...the feather is this lovely little dainty sketch against the harsh sky and town just beyond...and the thumb, this is just pure absurdity in a right and proper way...very nice.

The composition and bright highlights in bottom portion don't work for me here.

Great idea but I think the execution let you down on this one.

I like the inventive, creative idea of this shot, but it's out of focus and I think that takes away too much here.

I find your photo exciting for its creativity. It conjures up all sorts of literary stories in my mind. Nice work. 9.

I really really love this concept and your execution of it except that I don't think it suits this challenge particularly well (the feather is light on a white background but there is too much dark space in the photo I think). But taking it apart from the challenge, this is one of the most creative and beautiful shots I have seen in a while.
