great shot, i really like this. don't be discouraged. it's your second highest scoring picture, and they'll only get better. sometimes it's hard to understand why it didn't do as well as you think it should have (been there done that multiple times), but just learn from it. you have some amazing work in your portfolio. great job on a wonderful animal. can't wait to see him in the Pet Portrait as well :D

a little more USM, and desat the yellow channel almost completely, and I think this is a bit more striking. and crop off the left side a bit from the nose, the eye is too centered.

Wow, this is a beautiful closeup! I love the red eye on all that gold/brown/yellow. The DOF is fantastic, spot on, difficult to do at 1/60 with that lens.

I think Regen means "rain" in German. Is that intentional?

Gerat lighting and capture. Nice Depth. Good coloring. For a lizard portait I think it is nearly perfect. Maybe just a bit more depth for the back of the neck, but that is being overally critical. Highly rated.

I would have liked to see more space to the left of the head, just to give the image more balance
