Original thought was to have a candy cane stick stuck in the mouthpiece of a flute. Title: A Sweet Tune. Short story: it didn't work.

Background is wrapping paper taped to a flat board.
Found some ribbon that matched the paper and placed it around the brim of the hat.
Additional striped wrapping paper taped around flute. I used a sharpie to make the black holes.

she has lovely hair, well framed, good lighting and focus, not over keen on the backdrop.

What I see is a cacophony of colours here, sorry. The multiple shadows, cast by the hat's rim onto the face of the girl, add to the poor impression from this image. On top of that, the girl is actually not playing the recorder, but is holding it for the camera, while saying "cheese". Depending on your tolerances, this may be good enough for your family album.

maybe just a change in perspective, and something about the light isn't quite right. otherwise this is amazing.

great...just think there's too much shadow under the hat and around her eyes...love the hair!
