She isnt this thin in real life. Its the lighting that creates the look of anorexia. I still think its a nice example of american culture...the desire to be thin. Young girls feeling fat when they arent. If we photographed runway models in a light like this...do you think our daughters would find it beautiful? Something to ponder.

7. Too dark for my taste. Very nice lines between the neck and shoulder.

She's no oil painting - but she looks like one! Very artisitic and well composed shot using old-master techniques for still life lighting. You are an expert without doubt.

I wonder why the term "American Beauty"? The irony of it is that most Americans are no where near as thin as this woman. This woman is too thin -- painfully thin. Most Americans are overweight...though the advertising companies are constantly trying to sell deathly thin, they don't succeed.

The lighting makes this feel like a painting. A touch harsh above her right breast, but just right on her face, torso and legs. I like the way the arms are in shadow.

Hmm.. I can't be sure if this is a poke at American beauty standards or something to be taken at face value. Either way it makes an impact. I'll be upfront and say that she looks to thin too me, which if you're going for my former guess, works well. At face value, the model looks like one you'd find in one of the haute couture mags. All that aside, I think the image is beautifully taken. The light is just right, it fairly glows on her lower body and highlights her face and hair just right. The posing is good, though the way her head is tilted is just a wee bit disconcerting. All in all a great shot, though the ribs kind of take away from it for me (no offense to your model who I think is beauitful). 9

the lighting looks a little greenish in the midtones and shadow areas.

Top lighting here. The pose is interesting, kind of as if your subject is flowing through the frame from bottom right to the top left. The gaze out of the frame is very fitting, it finished of the flow somehow. The grain works as well. I'm going to give this a (9).

Update: I didn't give any tens in this challenge so this is at the top of my favourites for "lighting"

This is a great image, it has a painting like quality to it. She certainly does not look comfortable but the lighting is excellent. Very well done.

Good Points:wow! what a pose! Fills the frame perfectly, love the grain (although many will prbably complain about it) and the desaturated look, exactly what I like in body shots.
Bad Points: Whilst ribs sticking out isn't nice - I knid of think it adds to the image, a bit kooki. The same goes for the creases in her neck. So I guess that's not really a bad point at all.
Overall Score: 10! (and looking forward to see who took it)

This is interesting, but the colours are too washed out. There is also a definite green cast to the image that makes her look sickly and does not let us enjoy her beautiful hair. The lingerie selected could have been better as well: looks like she's growing mauve pubic hair. The angle of her neck is exagerated, looks like she broke it. I scored this picture lower for these factors, not for the fact that she isn't wearing much. This is a good idea, but I suggest you keep working at it.

Good pose, great underwear, and lovely hand-tinted-like color. The lighting is fine, but not really the key element. Great photo all the same!

Nice idea.
The outfit looks real tacky :(
And the lighting seems to be having a very bad effect on the skin tones.
Still a nice vote for creative idea, attempt and execution

This looks like an old Victorian risque photo--mostly because of the pose. Cool shot!
