Location: Beardsley Zoo, Bridgeport, CT

Remember ME? Same tiger... slightly less cuddly. I actually went to the zoo to shoot an ocelot for the Spots challenge, but that cat was sleeping. This one was too... until a bird got his attention.

Shot through a chain link fence on a cloudy day with the aperture wide open to blur out the links.

Processing: Convert from RAW, convert to B&W with Channel Mixer (mostly green channel), HSL colorization to add slight tone, Levels, USM, Dodge & Burn all over, duplicate image on another layer in Multiply mode for contrast (30% opacity, I think), Sharpen tool on eyes and nose, Blur tool on some of the fur, more USM after resize, 0.3px Gaussian Blur to soften background fur, Curves for contrast and deeper midtones, add border. Yep, practically straight from the camera! ;-)

"I DID get a 1 from somebody (bless his cold, shriveled little heart), so that'll help. I guess a totally grayscale, sharply-focused image of an interesting subject didn't meet the challenge. :-/"

I'm sure they were just confused... One of my favorites from the challenge.

I'm glad the ocelot was asleep... this is a wonderful shot! And hard to believe he's the same little guy you shot before who's been sitting in my favorites for a long time. Great job! :)

One of the best ever tiger shots I have ever seen. Super lighting and tones and the look on his face is so direct. Great shot, good luck.

Nicely composed and the sharpness is great. The only thing that would make it better is if he was looking right at the camera. "Cmon kitty, smile, look right here. Gooooood Kitty!" 8

Great expression, he looks more like somebody's pet pussycat than fierce hunter of the jungle. Very nice b&w contrast. Well done!

Very nice head shot, I like the way you framed the face - it almost looks like it is going to come right out of the pic.

Love this one, especially the softness of the textures of the tiger. Definately gets top votes from me.

The detail and the expression of this tiger's portrait make it a 10 in my book. Lovely work!

Actually rather a sweet expression. The blur on the bottom right doesn't seem to fit with the rest of the picture's focus.
