the geometry created by the lights doesn't help this photo. it sort of splits it into two different worlds. and better use of thirds could make this more appealing. |

Interesting hill in the background. The lights are not as crisp as I would like to see. The light on the grass in the foreground is a little distracting perhaps you could crop it out. I see some noise in the sky, a run through Neat image if you have it could get that out. You can down load a limited trial version for free, it’s what I use when I need to reduce noise. |

Compositionally this is a real tough call. You wanted the lights and the reflections obviously, but you have no real foreground except that tiny triangle in the right corner. Foregrounds need to be stronger and more prominent. There is a huge expanse of black in the bottom left which contributes nothing, and the sky is taking up half the image without contributing too much either.
My recomendation would be to have concentrated on a smaller section of the town lights and make a stronger feature of the narrow stripe which actually cotains the reflection. Get in closer next time |
