Well, this will be my first photo for the 30D team - it has been frustrating. Yesterday, my husband and I drove to Pagosa Springs to take a picture of the waterfall near there - the weather was so bad (snowing and raining at the same time)that I couldn't take any pictures of the falls like I wanted. It really upset me.

Today, I happened to notice how this little hourglass on the desk looked pretty in the light coming from the front room window so I decided to take a long exposure of it instead. I put a #4 neutral density filter in front of the lens and an F stop of 36 so I could get a longer exposure without over exposing. I like how it turned out - looks like a classic, elegant protrait (I think!). The first title I thought of was "Portrait of Time" but I changed it to Time in a Bottle.

We could have gone back to take pictures of the waterfall again today and hope to have better weather but we really want to go to Taos instead. Our favorite restaurant there is closing after today for its 6 week winter break - we wanted to eat there one more time while we could!

Editing: Crop; Adjustment levels for levels and curves; Flatten Image; noise removal with Helicon Filter; resize image; smart sharpen; use blur tool on background just behind hourglass just a bit; sharpen tool on upper sand & parts of metal stand; dodge edges of metal holding the glass.

Great job with the lighting here. Would make it even more perfect if the reflections of the room where not seen here, since doesn't seem to pertain to the theme here. Either you can work in a completely dark room with the just that one light or use black cloth or foamcore and surround the table by that and just have the camera and light peaking through.

does not show enough evidence to fit into this challenge.

It would be nice if you could also get the sense of the top pile depleting.
