I really need a haircut and a beard trim.
Brushed my beard up instead of down, tousled my hair up with a towel (before showering for the day), and stared into the camera.

I think the brush adds to the crazy quality of this photo. one of my favorite of the challenge.

Thanks to all who gave such nice and helpful comments.

I felt real good about this shot and am at least glad that I broke 6.00 with it.

As the comments show, there were widely varied thoughts on the ocatillo branches behind me. That was probably the difference.

David

What is wrong with DPC voters. This portrait is a gem! And highly underrated.

Those stems in the background really set this portrait off. I like the intensity of this one. Good job.

I think it's great how you have the branches coming out of your head - it adds to that "wild man" mystique.

I adore this...you look like some mythological god/creature - like Medusa's cousin, with all the plant stalks appearing to grow from your head.

Wonderful photo. You look like a Roman emperor that has fallen on bad times. :)
Black and white is perfectly done.

you hae a very characteristic (?) face, and b/w fits so well! the stems that grow out of your head look really cool and natural. I might have shopped out the stems above your shoulder.

Normally hate things that stick out of heads in the backround but here it really adds to the shot :)

Very unique. I like this a lot! I have mixed feelings about the plant behind his head...in a way I like it, but then there is that one branch to the right of his shoulder that I feel shouldnt be there....I dont know, that's just my opinion. I do really like it though!

A highly moving image and one hell of a movie poster for a soul in some deserted island. A stare and facial expression that radiates strength, indepence and a good sense of humore. Bump.

This is a great B&W shot. The plant material in the background threw me at first - but then it "grew" on me and I like the effect.

This is a great photo that would have been much better w/o the plant positioned where it is. At first glimpse I thought It was your hair.

Hahaha...the foliage looks like part of your hair...reminds me of King Neptune and those types of characters.

OMG - donĀ“t mean it in a bad way but this reminds me of the moovie Shining :o) (maybe a little more cropping from above would have dramatized this picture even more??) well done.

At first I thought that was your hair! I mean, all of it! Had you cloned out the two plants most to the right, the illusion would have held one or two more seconds.

Nice job, good modeling!
