This is actually a revisit of an old challenge entry, Bright Idea. I had a few thoughts about how I could have made it better and was talking about attempting a reshoot when my dear wife pointed out that it could fit into Science.

In the end the picture is a lot different anyway - it's further out to catch the flame-like reflection on the bulb and the colours have been tweaked some. Not too much, the red channel has been killed entirely and the blue channel boosted a touch.

Problems with it - well, it would be nice to have it lighter and have a clearer picture of the bulb glass, but there were too many reflections in my not-totally-blacked-out room. There's a fair bit of crap on the bulb, too - dropping the red channel helped a lot there.

I'm not expecting great things this time, but I'm trying to get back into the swing of entering.

Neat effect. Did you notice Rudolf TRNReindeer's ghost in the dark blue part of your photo? LOL

Nice glowing light there, gives me a very mysterious feeling. When I looked at this on my laptop I could see the glass of the lamp in front and the one behind. The background also appeared rather grainy. But on my work computer I can't see all of that and it looks very good. I am just wondering how scores are affected by people who's monitors are not calibrated properly.

oohhh good one. i've done a similar ppic in black and white. light bulbs can be some of the most facinating subjects, just turn them on!

Scientific - nice colours - I'd like to be able to see the outline of the bulb a bet better. 7
