Slim to None. But science tells us that it has to come up every once in a while.

Nice B&W photo!

My Answer: 7776:1

Contrived - but contrived well, technically.
10/20/2003 01:58:15 PM
depth of field too shallow... but then it kinda demonstrates the lessening probability... nice
10/19/2003 06:59:28 PM
Very good picture! Nice capture and timing!
10/19/2003 06:21:10 PM
Wonderful shot in the right time! :-)

Not sure this is really science, more chance with a bit of mathematics. However, I really like the photo.
10/17/2003 10:41:29 PM
I *really* like this shot, but if I were to have seen it without knowing what the challenge was - I would have guessed 'gambling', 'games', or 'black and white', not science.
10/17/2003 05:14:26 PM
I wish that the die in the air would be in focus. very interesting.
10/17/2003 04:26:25 PM
I like the angle of the dice and one "in air".
10/17/2003 09:34:43 AM
Good use of DOF and ROT. Good framing.
10/17/2003 08:37:32 AM
JUST COOL! Nice DOF. And the frame is good. 10
10/17/2003 02:35:58 AM
yeah, those are not good odds. 1 in 7776 which is not close to even half a percent. nice picture by the way.
10/16/2003 11:38:36 PM
Assuming the 5th die is also 6, then it's 1 in 7,776. ;)
10/16/2003 04:49:50 PM
I really like this shot.....for a gambling, luck, or yahtzee theme. As it is the only thing that really communicates science is the title. Cool shot though.
10/16/2003 11:27:58 AM
I like the composition and how the dice in the back is still in the air. I like the dof. nice image.
10/16/2003 09:07:52 AM
This is a very professional shot - I love it. Would give a 10 but the theme just doesn't seem to fit .. 9
10/16/2003 07:48:29 AM
Love the idea, like the b&w and DOF but I think the fourth and fifth die need to be a little sharper. Really like it though.
10/16/2003 05:32:11 AM
I would prefer to focus the dies in the middle
10/15/2003 08:44:23 PM
Hehee, good idea, original idea. Bravo. I see a lot of noise/grain. This is not a bad thing, but I believe here the dice needed to be crisp. Beyond that, this is not an unlikeable shot at all.
10/15/2003 05:28:43 PM
Very simple and beautiful, this is a 1-10 I think.
10/15/2003 01:13:22 PM
I like the way this shot was set up, how you can just barely tell the last die is about to land as a 6. It looks a little rigged to me, maybe have the first blurry die propped up a bit so it looks like it's just about to stop moving. Great picture though!
10/15/2003 12:40:07 PM
I love the aniticipation you achieved - will the last one be a six? But is it science? We'll give it the benefit of the doubt for such a compelling photo.
10/15/2003 09:22:41 AM
I don't know that I would call this "science" (odds are more mathematical than scientific, yes?) but I like the shot a lot anyway. I love that the 5th die hasn't fallen yet leaving the question open-ended. The lighting, cropping, the black&white and DOF are all great.
10/15/2003 08:27:56 AM
Good depth of focus and beutiful lighting. I like the idea also.
10/15/2003 02:05:36 AM
A simple and understated visually interesting photo.
10/15/2003 01:01:04 AM
streeeeeeeetching it a bit but good shot
10/15/2003 12:30:08 AM
not so much science as math, but okay :) very nice dof, i wonder what shutter this is...
10/15/2003 12:17:51 AM
I like the artistic qualities this photo has. The shallow depth of field works very well and the composition is lovely, as is the border. Not terribly "scientific", but not a big deal to me. Well done
