You know how they award a difficulty multiplier in diving so a triple flip with two twists is worth more than a back flip? I think we should go for something like that on DPC...

At night...in the incessant rain...$4000 of camera equipment taped to the hood of my car...in my own cul-de-sac with the teenage neighbors looking on.

Step 1: Come up with the idea. The LSD helped with that.
Step 2: Design cradle for the camera out of toy foam blocks. One of them was an arch and perfectly fit the barrel of the lens.
Step 3: Waterproof camera with ziplock bag. (remember the rain?)
Step 4: Tape camera to hood of car. I mean it! You can't use enough. The only way I was doing this was because I have a special insurance rider (no joke) on my equipment which basically allows me to throw it off a cliff. This may have been pushing it though. I could imagine the phone call.
Step 5: Design a little "tunnel" out of christmas lights by stringing them between two homemade poles which were on top of garbage cans so the car could pass under.
Step 6: Work out all the exposure, flash, and other problems. (still in the rain...)
Step 7: Knock pole over. Break one string of lights.
Step 7a: Get shocked.
Step 7b: Replace broken string of lights amid curses.
Step 8: Have many shots ruined because the intermittent wipers always know when they are right in front of my face.
Step 9: Snap picture. Flash goes, freezing me. Then I step on it and move through the tunnel while the camera captures the trails of lights.
Step 10: Repeat 5 times. It was all I could do. I also had to wipe the lens between each shot.
Step 11: Process. Pretty basic stuff. No real tricks other than a Screen layer to brighten the lights.
Step 12: Sit back and know it was a job well done.

This better score 6.5 or there will be some 'splainin' to do!

You really didn't get your reward for all that effort.

LOL. Wouldn't it have been easier to just use a monitor as the background and shrink yourself so it can fit into a hot wheels car? :P

That is some setup so I guess the voters now have some 'splainin' to do.

P.S. Maybe have your daughter drive and you control the pedals? I bet that would have been worth a full point more!

Oh! Only 5.84!! It's a shame voters didn't appreciate your shot: often people only look 1 sec at shots and don't think about their creation process. Love your story about the shooting. When I saw your shot during voting I couldn't image that someone was so crazy to tape his camera onto the hood - now I know you really did. Great! :)

That's either DrAchoo or buckaroo Bonzai. I'd know those ears anywhere. If it's DrAchoo I'll give it a 10. Otherwise, I'll start it at 8. bump to 9
