 In 1830 Trueman Everet got lost in what was to become Yellowstone Park. He survived on the root of this thistle for 38 days. Maybe he by cooked it in the hot springs. Not a recommended diet. Very binding.

If you take any ranger tours in the park you will hear all the gory details.

By early August the flowers were finished so I never saw them.
