A word or two from an Ammons poem. I am in an Ammons mood at the moment...
I had nothing for Bokeh today so on my way home from work I decided to stop by the wildlife refuge figuring I could capture a bird or two and some great fall color. I arrived at 5:10PM and they close at 5:30. So I race down to the lake and spot a great blue heron but he is too far away for anything good, though I do capture some ducks heading home. I snap a few here and there just for the sake of snapping - I rarely have time anymore just to snap for the sake of snapping. When I got home I found out a relative had died.
These words are from A. R. Ammons poem "Loss." It popped into my head while editing and there it stayed. I went looking through my bookshelf and lo-and-behold found "Selected Poems," a book I purchased in 1996 when majoring in Creative Writing at UM. Go figure it would turn up now. I had marked about 10 poems by folding down the page corners - this was one of them. And I still love it.
Loss
When the sun
falls behind the sumac
thicket the
wild
yellow daisies
in diffuse evening shade
lose their rigorous attention
and
half-wild with loss
turn
any way the wind does
and lift their
petals up
to float
off their stems
and go
A.R.Ammons

What a strangely scored challenge! I gave this one a 10 and was certain it would be on the front page! This is so pretty!

I don't get the title, but really like this bokeh example! Well done! On my top 10 list! |

Nice shot - The only thing the bothers me even slightly is the white spot on the bottom of the image. I would have rated it higher if the 'finger' in the bokeh was missing. |

Probably the most beautiful bokeh of all - and yet with such an unsuspecting subject in the foreground. Masterfully executed. Congrats. |

nice colours in the BG, but the foreground subject doesn't compliment the BG colours very well. good effort though.. |

The colorful background does a great job as an accent. Very well done! |

Very beautyful colours. I believe I would have cropped it closer in the bottom to get rid of the whit part. I looks wrong with all the coloured bokeh. (I would have rated it 1 higher if it hadn't been for the white) |

Love the background but the subject seems a tad oversharpened. |
