I think I liked the colored version of this better (and would like to see the original version as well). Colors can help to tell the story of the photo, as you were able to do in the challenge entry with the slight fading and toning to make it look like an old photo or postcard.
A really good B&W photo subject has to be about dramatic lighting, texture, contrast or pattern. Just desaturating a color photo does not automatically make it better.
Where is this museum anyway? I'm always looking for good day trips from here in LA (that's Lower Alabama for the uninitiated viewers :-) ).
