This is a replica of Trevithick's Penydarren tramway locomotive. It represents the pioneering locomotive built in 1803-04 by the cornishman Richard Trevithichk at teh Penydarren ironworks, Methyr Tydil. On the 21st Feb 1804, this locomotive ran on the nile-mile tramway from Penydarren to Abercynon, hauling a load of ten tons of iron and about seventy people who hitched an unoffical ride! This was the first successful journey made by a steam locomotive on rails, and would initiate a world-wide revolution in transport in the nineteenth Century.
This is my first challenge for a while, as I have been a tad busy with my PhD thesis! Dont think I'll do too well as its a bit boring! But I kinda like it all the same, my missus now thinks I am a trainspotter though :(
Was interesting to photograph as its black and the light was very bright outside. Cloned out a few distracting parts that could be seen through the windows and a few other messy things. Then used quadtones and Neat image (due to being shot at iso 1600).
