I think the soft focus works just fine here but agree that there needs to be a bit more contrast or maybe dragging down the curves at the bottom end a bit for more drama ...

OK ... I tried it and the contrast doesn't work but the curves adjustment DEFINITELY does IMO. I just pinned the centre of the curved down and dragged down the bottom end a touch (which with the s curve drags up the highs just very slightly) and spot healed a couple blemishes (don't know if you prefer au naturel or not) ... I hope you don't mind me messing with it but wanted to show you the results of my suggestion ... I think it lifts her face WELL off the background.

I'm not sure why, but it seems just a tad out of focus. I am also wondering if a darker setting with deeper shadows wouldn't make it more dramatic.

Overall its a nice photo, but I think it lacks that dramatic appeal. Love the bokeh.
